Child support modification

I lost my job through company wide layoffs in 2011. I was able to find work a few months later in Canada making less than at my last job. I maintained my support levels by supplementing my lower income with saving and retirement. I remarried a Canadian and now have a child together.

Over the past few years my savings have been depleted and the value of the Canadian dollar has plummeted. I am unable to find higher paying work or a similar job in the United States. Does the dropping exchange rate and my change in job circumstances from the original support order give me a valid reason to modify my support?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Yes, I believe these circumstances would warrant a substantial change in circumstances that would allow you to modify your child support or spousal support payments.
