You should not move out without first consulting an attorney. You should also be aware that depending on the level of emotional abuse you may be able to seek a protective order that requires him to leave the home. Abandonment is generally a financial issue, who makes more money?

i have lived in an emotionally abusive marriage for ten years have 3 kids and am finally done after lots of counseling and years of saying i want a divorce. husband is in denial refusing to leave. if i take kids and rent an apartment myself is it abandonment??
