Child custody

Dear charlotte:

Greetings. What is a traditional, but not legal marriage?

Joint versus sole custody does not matter on whether or not someone remarries and has other children. Joint custody means joint decision making, and having another family does not mean that you no longer want to jointly make decisions together.

Now, if you want to negotiate with him - an attorney could draft up an agreement to get exactly what you want. Thank you.

A traditional marriage means they were married in the asian traditional way but have no legal documents that they were legally married.

Dear charlotte:

Thank you for the explanation. Are you speaking about taking the children out of the state of North Carolina to another state or to a foreign country?
