A step-parent’s income is not a factor in determining child support amounts, with the exception of an agreement signed by the step-parent where they take responsibility of child support.

Dear jdrake:

Greetings. No, the new wife’s income is not included in his gross adjusted income for determining child support. The only exception I can think of is if the parent is self-employed and pays the new spouse out of his business - that may be counted depending on the circumstances. Good luck.

When a father, who is non-custodial, support paying parent, remarries and has a child with the new wife, is the new wife’s income included in his gross adjusted income for determining the child support amount payable to the custodial parent?
Thank You.
