Collaborating Attorney

#1

My understanding of this process is that each marital partner chooses a collaborating attorney to represent them in the negotiations. I live near Wilmington, NC and am having trouble finding this type of attorney nearby. The closest one seems to be 75 miles from my home.

How do I find out if there are actually attorneys who function as a Collaborator closer to my residence?
If there are truly not any closer than 75 miles, approximately how many visits are required to follow this type of solution?

Normally a true collaborative case requires at least 4 meetings. If no lawyers in your area practice true collaborative law, that does not mean that you cannot each find and attorney you help you resolve all the issues in the case without filing a lawsuit. Many lawyers engage in the negotiation process in a collaborative manner without adhering to the collaborative law framework.
