My lawyer had to resign my case due to a conflict of interest with another client. He notified opposing counsel and said he would help me find other representation. Can the opposing counsel start filing things on me in the interim? I’m terrified this will happen.
The opposing counsel or party can file things at any time, as needed. You should have notice of hearings and time to response to any complaint or counterclaims filed, so you should have adequate time to secure new counsel.
