Custody Evaluation

What is this like? Who does it? What type of questions will the evaluator ask the child? How long does it take? Where does it typically take place? At our Temp. Cust. Hearing ex got 2 more overnights per month plus we split track outs. He is still not satisfied so off to trial we go…

A custody evaluation is the process during which the family situation is evaluated and psychologist or psychiatrist works with the children, and often times, both parents. This is done to determine how different schedules will impact the children, and what if any psychological issues are present in the children, or parents and what can be done to make improvements.
The evaluations take awhile, usually 3 moths at best, sometimes longer.

Are they expensive?

It depends on the evaluator and the depth of the evaluation, but on average normally a few thousand dollars.

A custody evaluation is used to determine how much time each parent gets with the child…not an evaluation of the “family situation”. There is no family situation! The Court usually agrees with the evaluator and thus makes the evaluator’s decisions the Court’s decision. It cost about 10,000 for this garbage which is simply another way for morons to make money off of someone’s else’s misery! I HIGHLY recommend that you guys work out your own custody schedule rather than go through this mumbo, jumbo and a great deal of wasted time and money. FYI…MOST evaluators are going to say 50/50 is the way to go and will have “documentation” to back this up! They can “read” the situation any way they want to! It’s a joke! DO IT yourself!!!
