My friend Eric and his wife Danielle have decided to divorce. They have been seperated about 4 months. Eric has received a job offer in Missouri. If he moves out of state how does this effect the divorce proceedings? Can he file in the new county he will live in in Missouri or must he return to North Carolina? If the law is different in Missouri can he get the divorce before the 1 year seperation?

It would be best for him to file in NC if she still lives here, and he should consult with an attorney in NC about property division before he files. He would need to consult with an attorney in MO about filing there.
