Dear Fatherdoright,

If you have no other issues to resolve such as post separation support or alimony, your divorce should occur in a quick and timely manner after equitable distribution is completed.

Please be aware if you have a claim for alimony or post separation support and you do not preserve it before your divorce is finalized, you will permanently lose any right to request alimony or post separatiion support in the future.

You can find the forms for a do it yourself divorce on our website. Good luck.
