G.I. Bill income and Child Support

Hi Rosen - thank you for the service that you provide.

My brother-in-law gets G.I. Bill income from the military to attend trade school and we’re wondering if that $ can be used against him in the child support calculation. It’s my understanding that this is a state-by-state decision so of course we’re wondering about NC specifically.

While it is not included specifically under the definition of ‘income’ in our child support guidelines, case law indicates that judges have used G.I. income in calculating child support.
