My stbx is self employed. On our joint income tax return, she claims many “business” deductions. When determining alimony, will a court consider her income after all these “deductions” or is it based on her gross income? If I accept her numbers, would that mean I could potentially be paying more alimony because her income looks smaller?

Alimony is based on her gross income, not the gross income of the business, however the court will look for deductions that she may be including to purposely make her income appear to be less than it actually is.
