I have read the NC requirements of 1 year separation under different roofs and the fact that the marriage home is joint property.

My question is, if I move out and pay rent on my own apartment and my wife remains in the marriage home (but doesn’t make enough money to pay the mortgage by herself), am I responsible for 1/2 the mortgage of the marriage home AND my rent at my new apartment? I do not want my credit score to be negatively affected, nor can I afford rent and mortgage at the same time!

Thank you in advance for your reply

According to the mortgage holder you are both jointly liable if both names are on the debt. If the mortgage is not paid you can be held personally liable.
