New Children and Expenses

Are new children and the work-related child care expenses I pay for them, factored into child support if I were to ask for modification?

No. Only children which you have prior to the child for whom support is being sought are factored into child support. After-born children are not factored in. The policy reason for that is that the courts don’t wish to punish first families if a parent later chooses to create a second family. The state fears that in some circumstances, a parent could get away with paying almost no child support by having new children, leaving the state to pay for the first-born children. They’re trying to discourage that from happening, even though it is an extreme example.
