Can I be forced to payout my wife’s share of my pension up front or will it be disbursed under the terms of a QDRO when I retire and start to draw?

Thanks…

More often than not pensions are divided using a QDRO rather than assigning a cash value for a present day payout. A QDRO can be drafted which allows your wife to begin receiving her share of the payments directly from the plan at retirement age.
