How long do I have to keep his belongings? He removed them all from the house, but not the shed. The landlord, which is his father… Told me I needed to clean the shed… I want his stuff out. He lives across the street (cringe)… It’s not like it’s far to travel. He has been gone since April 30th. Should I send a letter before I remove it and if so, should it be certified?
Have you asked him to come get his things that are left in the shed? I would document in writing where you have asked him to do so. There is no set time period for how long you have to keep a spouses personal property, but you don’t want to discard anything until you have made reasonable attempts to get him to remove it.
