Promoting/representing child as having passed away

If a parent is part on a non-profit website to help raise money, is there anything illegal with making a memorial page for their child giving the impression the child has died of a rare neurological disorder with comments referring to the child in past tense from the parent and people the parent knows extending sympathy, if the child is in fact alive and doing well? I’m not sure since its a non-profit organization or if its illegal or legal to do it? I don’t agree with it from an ethical standpoint!

The attorneys her typically deal with questions relating to divorce, alimony and custody, so they may not answer your question.

However, it sounds like fraud to me.

That question is criminal in nature and is outside the scope of this forum.
