Dear mkoontz:

Greetings. Why are you assuming that she will not get alimony and be able to afford the house just fine? Yes, it is doable and she may get the house with you stuck paying alimony until the date a court orders the same.

One other option you did not mention - selling the house, even with almost no equity. Thank you.

I am considering divorcing my wife of approximately 5 years. We recently bought a home together, and have virtually no equity built up (100% loan).

She cannot afford to live there without my income (approximately twice hers); if she and her children get the house, I want my name off of it. I would rather have the house and paymetns without her, but can live with being out from under it. Is this doable? Or is she more likely to get the house with me stuck with bills until she loses it?
