If I am filling a contempt charge do I need to keep the complaint simple or would it be benificial to include excerpts from a text message. For example:
I asked ex via text message for a certain weekend for visitation, she text back and denied it. In the complaint would I quote that text as proof of her denying me my weekend or just bring that text to court?

Keep the allegations in your motion simple. Bring the text evidence to court.
