Simple Divorce (I Hope)

My wife and I were married only 12 months, no increase in assets and we have separated.

She will be filing for the divorce. Is there anything that I need to be aware of in reviewing the papers to be signed? I’ve stated that if she does not attempt to go after my inheritance or monies prior to the divorce, that I will not seek part of her pension, 1/2 the taxes, 1/2 the debt, etc. I simply want to be done with her but she’s proven to be very conniving when it comes to what she wants. Essentially she wants to be “paid off” for being married to me for a year. Despite her $17k engagement and wedding ring, other expenses such as her credit card debt, car note I paid off, etc., she still feels as though she’s entitled to more.

I simply don’t trust her.

There’s nothing I can tell you to be looking for before the complaint is filed, but if you are concerned, the best thing to do is speak with an attorney and have him or her review the complaint with you to be on the safe side.
