# Wife is on title to car but not on loan

we both are on the title to a car which was recently paid off, she was never on the loan. Can I sell the car without removing her from the title? Also, I am moving to Virginia from North Carolina and do not know if she has to be removed from title. there is a place on back of title for “re-assignment of title by registerd owner”. Could I use this section to fill out and make me sole owner of vehicle with a now valid title in case I want to keep the car? Thank you

A person cannot sell a car if the title is in someone else’s name. She would have to sign it over to you before a notary public.
