I started a one-person consulting firm in 2006 which eventually grew to 20 employees, and I sold the firm in 2012. During this time my wife and I both worked full-time so household and family chores were fairly evenly split. Also during this time I had my regular “day job” of doing consulting work for my client so all of the work required to run and grow the company was done solely by me after hours from home. On multiple occasions I asked my wife if she would help me some with administrative tasks and in every instance she refused, saying she didn’t want the responsibility.
My question is - since my wife had absolutely no involvement in the business, and in fact refused to help when asked, is there any chance that a judge would grant me the lion’s share of the firm’s sale proceeds?
