Alimony was set by the judge to begin in August…no money received yet. Now I get letter from ex saying that he is going to APPEAL the judge’s decision because of “severity” of the judgment. The judge did agree to have his wages garnished to get the money which will go back to September once all is in place with his employer…my question…what does the APPEAL involve a and will his wages still be garnished while the process is being filed? Thank you.
An appeal is a lengthy process including (among other things) ordering the transcript, putting a record on appeal together, filing briefs, and waiting for a decision. He can move to have the judgment stayed waiting for appeal.
