Do I have to pay alimony?

Not likely. The ED and alimony would be decided from assets up to the date of separation. If your incomes were close at the time of separation you would not likely have to pay alimony.

Alimony is based on the standard of living during the marriage, if you both earned a similar income at the time of separation, it is unlikely that either of you would qualify for alimony.

My stbx just received his Complaint and is now angry that I’m filing (after being separated for 2 years). Since we separated his income decreased greatly and he is now saying that he can sue me for alimony. Is this true? At the time of our separation we were making about the same amount. We have a Separation Agreement of sorts, but it was never notarized.
Thanks for any adive!
