Is this true?

Someone told me this today. Is this true and what does it mean exactly? Can you really have your
separation period shortened and is this granted often?

March 28, 2010 the legal definitions for Adultery and Abandonment changed.

Adultry has been moved to a subset of Abandonment as a legal standard. If two factors listed under the standard exist, then the requirement for Abandonment can be made. This factors include: Adultry, imprisonment, involuntary admission to a mental institution, drug use, physical abuse and physical abandonment. If you meet the standard, the separation period can be shortened to 6 months as part of a divorce from bed and board.

No, you must be separated for one year and one day before you can file for divorce.
