I think its 12 but thats is depended on the maturity level of the child and how long will the child be by themselves
Hi,
I recently had an issue concerning the age in which children can stay home alone and according to DSS there is not set age. It depends on maturity level and whether or not they know how to respond to an emergency situation. It also depends on the length of time that they are left alone.
I don’t know the age of your child however, be cautious if they are very young. While there are no preset ages this is taken very seriously.
Thanks,

Dear Rusty:
Greetings. I do not believe there is such a section of the law that calls for whether or not a child can be left alone. I have never seen such a law and it sounds more like a criminal statute then a family law one.
I would advise that you speak with a criminal attorney and/or the Department of Social Services in order to figure this out. Thank you.

What is the legal age for children to be left alone? What section of the NC law says so?
