This may sound bizarre but I will ask anyway.

Someone I know was married in NC in May 2011. She recently separated and relocated to Connecticut in November 2011.

The question she has is this: When is the earliest she can file for divorce in North Carolina?

She has to wait unti she has been separated one year and a day before she can file for divorce in NC. The whole process is likely to take 13-14 months total by the time she gets her ex served with the Complaint, his time to Answer and getting the divorce signed by a judge.
