Married in NC, moved to Sweden, and now divorce

Hi,

I’m Married accordning to NC state law, and met my wife when i studied at the university. After school we decided to go to Stockholm where my ex got at job at a big computer centre. I also got a job at a great company here, and have also been working in Information technology towards law firms here for a while. One of my sites is comparing law firms in Malmo for instance.

We got married before we moved, and the divorce is gonna be settled in Sweden. However since the law is more benificial to her in Sweden, im wondering if not maybe NC law can be applied in this divorce since we got married there. A friend who is a solicitor mentioned something in that direction.

Any advice on the matter?

/ Daniel

North Carolina law will not apply in a divorce unless the parties are residents of North Carolina at the time of the separation/divorce.
