My significant other has her Pretrial for the equitable distribution in a week. She had a lawyer but after $15K and no results, she has opted to represent herself. She has filed some paperwork that her attorney had given her at the end of representing her.

Question: What occurs at the pretrial? What does she need to prepare for that day in court?

Pursuant to local rules in Wake County, the following actions can take place at a pretrial conference:

  1. The Judge shall review the status of the case, and
  2. May hear any pending motions;
  3. May set the case for trial or hearing at a designated term of Court;
  4. May enter orders regarding discovery;
  5. And may take such other actions as may be appropriate to move the case towards a conclusion.

The pretrial conference isn’t the actual ED hearing - it is where you address preliminary issues.
