Is uncontrolled spending a reason for divorce. My wife filed bankruptcy in 2004, and doesn’t help with any of the bills. She filed for divorce does she have a claim to alimony even though she has demonstrated a life of uncontrolled spending.
Wasteful spending will not bar an alimony claim, but may be argued as a factor to reduce her “needs” and to argue for more than 50% of the property.
