I don’t understand what this is, since the only thing required to divorce in NC is that you live separate and apart for 1 year + 1 day. I am going to file for divorce now, but wondered if he would be able to contest it in any way?
There is no way to contest an absolute divorce based on one year’s separation. Often times “contested divorce” is a colloquialism used to describe the parties’ disagreement regarding custody/support and property issues.
