Arbitration?

I called the Clerk of Court in the Divorce division to ask about Divorce Arbitration. Gal said she had never heard about Arbitration to do with Divorce?
Read somewhere online (NC in my country) that Arbitration must be ordered by the Court/Judge? might not have been specific re: divorce
Am pretty confused right now
however Arbitration would be a God send,

Arbitration can be voluntarily done. It does not have to be court ordered. Arbitration falls outside of the court system which is why the clerk you spoke to is unaware of what it is. No courthouse personnel are involved in an arbitration.
