Audio Taping Settlement Conference

I have an upcoming mandatory settlement conference in a civil superior case. NC is a one party state. Am I allowed to secretly audio tape myself and the other parties in the settlement conference?

If so, is the recording or a transcription of it likely to be permitted into evidence in my case?

I don’t recommend that you record the settlement conference as the tape will not be admissible in any court proceeding down the road and therefore will be of little to no use to you. Settlements discussions of any kind are not admissible in any court hearing.
