Bankruptcy

If your name is on a deed to the house and separation agreement states that it needs to stay that way because of credit issues and the house cannot be refinanced, can one of the spouse’s file for bankruptcy to clear themselves from the house, especially if the other person no longer resides there?

If the separation agreement requires that the debt remain joint, it would be a breach of contract to forgo that responsibility.
