Can I request that he sell the business?

My husband owns a coffee shop that was acquired with marital funds during the time we were married. Given that, do I actually have half ownership? And if so, can I request the cafe be sold for equitable distribution?

Thank you for the help.

Your husband will either have to buy you out by providing you with your half of the marital equity in the business, or he will have to sell it and you will divide the proceeds. If he can’t buy you out and doesn’t want to sell, a judge may force him to sell so you can take your share of the value of the business.
