My car was purchased as a gift but its in my name. My spouse paid the down payment, and has made all payments thus far. Can my spouse be made to continue making the payments until paid off? He makes more than me and will have to pay alimony.
If you are keeping the car in the separation/divorce, then you will need to be responsible for the payments and all other financial obligations.
However, if you are due alimony, then you can negotiate the alimony amount to be sufficient for you to pay the monthly car payment and/or negotiate such that your spouse is required to make the monthly payments as part of his alimony obligation.
