My husband cheated with several different women while we were married. We recently separated and he moved out. He is still actively involved with a lot of women. We had recently purchased a home (mortgage in my name only, his name is now off the deed) and I’m stuck with all of the expenses related to the house.We have a separation agreement in place, but nothing in it says it will be incorporated into the divorce agreement. Are there any legal issues I should be aware of before the time comes for our divorce, specifically regarding alimony/spousal support? He makes significantly less than I do, but this has put me under a strain to pay all the bills.
Hopefully your separation agreement includes an alimony waiver. If not, your spouse can file for alimony at any time before your divorce is granted. But if the divorce judgment is entered before anyone files for alimony or equitable distribution those claims are lost forever.
