Unfortunately when they do is another matter. Do you have a consent order? Do you have a separation agreement stipulating child support?
If you don’t then he is not obligated to pay. If he promised to pay and it is in writing (signed notarized etc) then eventually you will get it. If he willing did not pay you in the meantime once they go after him his will already be in arrears. He will be liable for back support and maybe the CSE’s attorney’s fees.
A party can receive retroactive child support even if there is no agreement or court order in effect.

my ex promise to pay me 500.00 a month in child support, that was our agreement. we seprated in Feb and he has not paid any yet. i went to child support enfocement because when i asked him about the support he said he would pay it when they make him pay. well the support is suppose to start in june. it is now june and still nothing. Is there a way to make him pay the back support from the month of separation until current?
