Employer cell phone, email subpoenas

How difficult is it to get phone records and emails from someone’s employer-issued/funded accounts? I know a subpoena would be required but I was told that since the employer is a very large bank, that the attorneys within the employer would likely get involved along with the accusers attorneys and the request is likely to get squashed.

I am of the opinion that the subpoena would be quashed based on the tenuous connection to the claim.
