Our equitable distribution said my ex was to buy out my half of the property we owned. He paid the amount that was determined. Now he wants me to pay for the lawyer to have my name removed from the property. Our ED agreement never stated who would be responsible for paying to have this done. I told him I’m willing to go sign whatever I need to sign when its ready. He said that I have to hire a lawyer to do it.
Who’s responsible for paying to have this done?
Without an actual review of your property settlement I cannot say for sure who is responsible for drafting the deed, however if the paperwork does not specifically assign the responsibility to you, you do not have to have the deed prepared.
