IF Assets are usually valued as of the date of separation -

WHAT " DATE " IS THE DATE OF SEPERATION CONSIDERED IF YOU ARE STILL NOT FILED PAPERS
OR IF ONE HAS AN ATTORNEY AND ONE DOES NOT

Assets are usually valued as of the date of separation.

SO, WHAT WOULD LEGALLY BE CONSIDERED THE DATE?

IF I SELL SOMETHING LIKE " RIGHT " NOW … WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENS ?

The date of separation is the date you begin living separate and apart.

If you sell martial assets after the date of separation the same will be accounted for in a final distribution.

If a couple signs a separation agreement at the time of separation that spells out who gets what material and financial assets, and what support will be provided to the dependent spouse, is there a need for the supporting spouse to do a detailed financial inventory of 6 or 12 months worth of expenses? I’m hoping the answer is no!

No.
