There is no residency requirement per county, it is only a state requirement. A person must live in NC for six months before they can file an action here, however, they can file in any county in which they live, provided they have met the residency requirement.

My wife left in October of 2007. We have lived in Carteret county since 2003. She went to live with her sister in Wake county from October through December of 2007. During December of 2007 she sued me for divorce in Duplin county and I had to get an Attorney in Onslow county that went to Duplin to answer the law suit. I was under the impression that you had to reside in a county for 6 months before you could file a divorce suit. My attorney took my case and my money just like everything was legal, her knowing the above facts. Am I missing something here?
