I have been married less than 90 days. Is there any way to get a divorce without a year of separation? Is annulment a possibility?
There are limited circumstances that allow for one to get an annulment in North Carolina. Here are the circumstances in which you may be granted an annulment:
- Marriages between family members
- If one party is under age
- If one party is impotent
- If one party lacks the mental capacity to understand what marriage entails
- If one party commits marriage under a false pretense
You’ll note that length of marriage has no bearing on whether you are eligible for an annulment. For more details on this topic, read our article on annulments.
