I am a noncustodial parent providing health insurance to my child as ordered. Am I obligated to share costs of non covered medical expenses (copays, non covered after insurance is billed, etc)? Court order only states that I shall provide health insurance and pay child support. What is the law in NC if it is not specifically stated in the order?
It depends on what worksheet is being used to calculate child support. If you were ordered under Worksheet A, the court would have to address medical expenses in addition to the overall obligation. Worksheet B contemplates that since both parties have shared custody that they will both be incurring these expenses so it should be shared.
