One attorney says yes, one says no

A substantial raise in his income will likely warrant a change in circumstances necessary for a modification. I would recommend you contact an attorney to discuss the implications his raise may have on your case.

First I would like to thank you for all your time and thank you and your office for this website. It is above and beyond. Thank you. I have gotten more answers here than I did from the attorneys I paid thousands to!
My Ex-husband got a 3.5% raise. Would that be substanial enough or would it have to be more? He makes almost 160,000 already. However, i know he has intentionally not worked but about half as much as usual this year so that he would bring his total income down.
He seems to know every trick in the book.
Would any of this still put me in the "not able to modify catagory?

Actually a 3.5% raise is not substantial. At $160,000 per year the raise would only equal about $5,600 annually which is not a substantial amount based on his income. Based on these figures I revert back to my position that alimony is not modifiable.
