Paying for wedding rings

The engagement rings are your separate property. Most likely a court would classify the debt associated with them as your spouses’s separate debt as well.

When my husband proposed to me with my engagement ring, he had taken a loan out of his NY State 401K. After we got married, that loan was still not paid off so I ended up helping pay for my own wedding rings. Now that we are separated, he wants me to help pay that loan off. Do I legally have to help pay for that loan or is he as crazy as I think he is about this? [?]
