Pick Absolute Divorce Date?

We have been separated for over 1 year. For health insurance reasons we do not
want the divorce decree to be issued before 12/05/10. For tax reasons we want the
divorce prior to 12/31/10. When we/I submit filing for absolute divorce can I
state the effective date I/we wish it to granted/documented.

Could I file for absolute divorce now not to be granted until 12/10/10?

You can file for divorce now and work with the clerk to get the hearing set close to the date you wish for the divorce to be granted.
