My ex and I were only married for a year and a half and are currently separated. We bought a house when we got married, but he only contributed about 20% of the rather large down payment, and my family and I contributed 80%. Is he still entitled to half the assets?
Yes. The home is martial and he is entitled to one-half the equity. Though you can argue that based on the length of the marriage, and your greater contribution to the down payment that an equal division would not be equitable in this case.
