Requirements for medical insurance for child

Dear Deb:

Greetings. That is a question for Medicaid. I believe that they have rules about this. If the father can purchase the medical insurance I am sure a judge would make him do so rather than leave the child on Medicaid. Thank you.

If a child has been on Medicaid, and now the father gets a job that provides medical insurance, is he required to purchase that insurance for his child, or can the child, who lives with the mother, stay on Medicaid?
