Separation alternatives

Do you HAVE to be separated a year to file for an uncontested, amicable divorce? Is there any way one can file immediately or sooner? Say we refinance the house for the spouse keeping it and then file for an uncontested divorce within 3 months or less, for example?

In North Carolina there is no other alternative to the one-year separation requirement in order to file for and be granted an absolute divorce. Spouses must live continuously separate and apart for at least one year with no exceptions.
