It is hard to answer these questions without additional information. Do you have joint legal custody pursuant to a court order or a separation agreement? If by court order, then joint legal custody refers to the notion that both parents have equal decision-making authority on big issues (school, religion, etc.). If you have joint legal custody pursuant to a separation agreement, the document should define what that means exactly.
